Volume VI - Table of Contents

( Version française )

Presentation

Although Volume VI of Surfaces arrives somewhat later than we had hoped, this unexpected delay will have been salutary : rarely has an issue of an e-journal assembled such an array of prestigious authors and highly stimulating writing. Terry Cochran, who had taken over the editing of Surfaces after the untimely death of Bill Readings, has joined forces with guest editor Jean-François Vallée to offer a special section dedicated to our friend and colleague. Scholars such as Jean-François Lyotard, J. Hillis Miller and many others have insisted on keeping alive the dialogue with Bill Readings' thought and work.

A thematic section is devoted to the on-going publication (initiated in Volume IV) of the important intellectual debate on the future of humanistic discourse in which Bill Readings had participated at Irvine with such renowned interlocutors as Jacques Derrida, Wolfgang Iser, Ernst Behler and Murray Krieger, among others.

Finally, Surfaces continues to publish significant articles in its general issue.

Acknowledgements

Terry Cochran and Jean-François Vallée wish to thank their virtual co-workers who made possible the publication of this bountiful volume of Surfaces. Without the unabetted and invisible work of Katia Stockman, Guylaine Beaudry and Marc Audet, this issue could not have come about.
